Franziskanerplatz: Viennese coffeehouse culture

Franziskanerplatz is a small, hidden square in downtown Vienna. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of tourism and enjoy Viennese coffeehouse culture. Furthermore, there is the “Kleines Café” here. The small but fine café is characterized by cigarette smoke and an old Viennese charm. It seems as if time stood still here many decades ago.

Sofitel “The Loft”

The Loft is an excellent restaurant with breathtaking views over Vienna. Here you can enjoy a breakfast, lunch or dinner. It becomes especially enchanting at sunset, which adds the final, golden touch to the ambiance. The fine dining restaurant and bar are located on the 18th floor of the SO/Vienna Hotel on the Danube Canal. For a restaurant visit it is recommended to book in advance but for a cocktail at the bar you can drop by spontaneously.

“Tür 7” – speakeasy pub

“Tür 7” – Whispering Pub When it comes to insider tips for Vienna, the Tür 7 bar is right up front. If you want to be a guest at the speakeasy bar in the 8th district, you have to register in advance by phone or e-mail and then ring the front doorbell. From the outside, you wouldn’t guess that there is a bar in this building, because neither a sign nor a banner indicates it. Once inside, you find yourself in an atmospheric ambience and the comfortable furnishings invite you to linger.

Neni at the Prater

This restaurant in the 2nd district stands out not only for its Israeli delicacies, but also for its exceptionally beautiful location with a view of Vienna’s Würstelprater. A visit in the late afternoon hours is especially recommended. This way, in addition to flavors from the Middle East, the sunset and the colorful lights of the amusement park can be enjoyed. In addition to the restaurant at the Prater, the Neni also operates a restaurant at the Naschmarkt and the bar “Tel Aviv Beach” on the Danube Canal.

Eissalon am Schwedenplatz – best ice cream in town

For the one sweet sin worth having, it is best to go to the “Eissalon am Schwedenplatz”. Either eat your sundae there or get a portion to go. But beware! On hot days, the delicacy must be eaten twice as fast, as the creamy consistency of the homemade ice cream threatens to melt quickly. The ice cream parlor is located directly on the Ring, so easy to reach by moped.

A walk through the Währing Cottage Quarter

It is impressive which architectural masterpieces line the Türkenschanzpark, which can be reached comfortably with our e-mopeds. After a picnic in Türkenschanzpark, we go for a walk along the elegantly laid out villa streets. It remains a challenge to find one’s favorite among all the dream houses. Highly recommended is the Meierei Diglas, a restaurant in the middle of the Türkenschanzpark, which offers a pleasant ambience for a small breakfast or a snack in between.
