Vienna, 1 April 2021 – Today, Dutch scale-up GO Sharing is deploying 200 e-mopeds in Vienna, Austria. The Austrian city is the first stop for GO Sharing in their international growth ambition. GO Sharing’s mission is to decrease personal vehicle ownership and promote pay-as-you-go use. 

With over 4,000 e-mopeds divided over 30 cities, GO Sharing can certainly claim to be a successful scale-up in its home base of the Netherlands. As of today, the green-coloured mopeds are available for users in Vienna as well. GO Sharing is stationing 200 e-mopeds throughout the Austrian city to provide users with the means to travel from A to B–at a maximum speed of 45 kilometres per hour. Anyone with a valid driver’s license (AM or B) can use the GO Sharing app to book a sustainable ride. The use of a helmet is mandatory and therefore all mopeds are equipped with two helmets and hair nets. The shared e-mopeds are available 24/7 at a starting rate of €0.23 per minute. GO Sharing calls on Viennese to use the e-mopeds in compliance with the current Austrian corona measures.

Vienna is the first city outside of the Netherlands where GO Sharing is branching out its operations. The company has opted for the city with 2 million inhabitants, because the company sees a similar challenge in Vienna to that in the Netherlands: the Austrian capital is faced with a lot of car traffic, congestion and CO2 emissions as a result, as well as a shortage of parking spaces.

Lofty ambitions

GO Sharing’s motto is ‘A green planet with mobility owned by everyone, shared by everyone’. The company aims to change the global attitude towards mobility from ownership to pay-as-you-go use. ‘We would like to bring about the mentality shift from personal ownership to shared use’, says GO Sharing CEO Raymon Pouwels. ‘We want to offer a sustainable solution, using electric shared vehicles. Together with our users, we can reduce carbon emissions and traffic jams as well as curb zoning plans for parking lots.’ 

GO Sharing feels that international expansion is a logical step in its quest to reach its lofty goals. ‘We are incredibly proud of the fact that, as of today, our service is available in Vienna as well. This is the first step towards fulfilling our goals. At present, the focus lies on shared e-mopeds, but we hope to someday make all forms of transport a shared service’, says Pouwels.

GO Sharing
GO Sharing was founded in 2019 by amongst others CEO Raymon Pouwels. Within one and a half year time and with a 10 million euro investment, the company conquered the Netherlands: over 4,000 shared e-mopeds are accessible to 350,000 users in 30 municipalities.
